Montis

Montis was founded in Dongen, Holland in late 1974. Only a small furniture
company at the time, it has now grown into a leading worldwide brand that
designs and produces unusual design furniture. Designs that catch the eye
with their unique style and offer an exceptional level of comfort.

30 years on, Montis is still a private company owned by Paul van den Berg
who is always closely involved in all new developments and designs. Despite
the worldwide expansion, the philosophy behind the designs has remained the
same. By constantly designing on the basis of this philosophy, the furniture
has a long life cycle and is characterised by its:

- original and expressive design;
- lasting simplicity;
- industrial production at good value for money;
- high-quality leather with a natural feel.

The original design has turned Montis models into real trendsetters. The
chairs that combine steel structures and leather covers in particular have
frequently been imitated. Many of the models that Montis has produced over
the past 30 years are still in demand and the models that have been in the
collection for over 10 years may rightfully be called 'classics'.

In the early days, however, the Montis designs were not appreciated by
everyone and were often considered to be too peculiar by both retailers and
users. Eventually, our perseverance and conviction paid off and our designs
can now be found all over the world. Montis has a worldwide network of
exclusive dealers in over 40 countries.

After 30 years of Montis, the time has come to look back, which is why we
will be giving a retrospective presentation of a well-known and successful
part of the collection from the end of March. To celebrate this
presentation, the 1980s' 'Butterfly' will be re-released. In addition, our
dealers will be doing something special to show off the Castor, Chaplin,
Loge, Olivier, Spica, Sting and Windy designs. Montis shall widely support
this exhibition until late 2005 by putting special adverts in leading
magazines and papers and in shops.
